World Bank and IMF delegations in Belgrade

Finance Minister, Mladjan Dinkic, told a press conference today, that the first official meeting with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank would take place on Friday, September 17.

“Main topics of the meeting are the budget deficit for the following year and measures for export boosting”, said Dinkic.

Speaking about the economic growth, Minister Dinkic stressed that this year growth would be higher than previously projected by the Serbian Government and the IMF.

He said that this year GDP would be at least 8 percent higher compared to the same period last year, and added that, if that happened, it would be the largest in the last 24 years.

“If the growth of industrial production reaches 7 percent, growth of agricultural production 12.5 percent, commercial production 13 percent, traffic 17 percent, then the GDP would increase by 9.5 percent”, explained Minister Dinkic.

He added that the World Bank representatives are expected to grant the second tranche of this year $40 million, for the restructuring of financial sector in Serbia.
