Today – Draft Law on Tobacco on the Parliament agenda

On today’s extraordinary session, the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia is to debate on several laws from the economic domain, proposed by the Government, and adopted by the Parliamentary Legislation Committee. Therefore, according to the Parliament Agenda, the draft laws on tobacco, concessions, employment and insurance, as well as the privatization draft law should be debated today.

Suggesting the new legal dispositions of the Law on Tobacco, the Government provided for a more strict control of cigarettes production and trade, the creation of a national Tobacco Agency, which would provide suggestions to the Government on cigarettes license production and trade (wholesale and retail) issues. The Government will thus be empowered to withdraw licenses from manufacturers failing to comply with their legal obligations.
