Third phase of public finances reform to come
According to the Beta News Agency, the Minister of Finance and Economy in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Bozidar Djelic, announced today that the Ministry he’s been leading, will propose – in the current of the summer, the adoption of a series of laws already in the drafting procedure, adding that this will represent the third and the final phase of the public finances reform.
Mr. Djelic said that one of the mentioned laws will be the VAT Law (to replace the actual Sales Tax Law), which is aimed to avoid the double taxing problem.
On the occasion of the session of the Serbian Parliament Finance Committee, the Minister said that among the laws in preparation, there is also the Public Debt Law, the Law on Insurance, the Law on the Deposit assurance and Bank privatization Agency, as well as the Amendments to the Public Procurement Law. The Minister presented to the Committee the report on the achievements of the Ministry of Finance and Economy for the last year and the period of the first six months of the current year.
Minister Djelic said that the laws already being submitted to the Parliament, such as the proposals of Law on Games of Chance, on the servicing of the debt arising from the loan for the economic rebirth of Serbia, on the amendments to the Audit and Accounting Law, on the Local authority infrastructure development as well as a number of loans counter-guarantees, should be adopted as soon as possible.
