Netherlands supports Serbian public finances reform

Serbian Minister of Finance and Economy Bozidar Djelic said after yesterday’s meeting with his Dutch counterpart Gerrit Zalm that the cooperation of the two countries in reforming public finances in Serbia is agreed, and that there is a possibility for Serbia and Montenegro to join the investment fund for the Balkans.

Djelic said that the Dutch financial institutions could help the Union of Serbia and Montenegro in the process of privatising banks and insurance companies by investing in them, but that they would like to see political stability in the country.

The Netherlands is looking to expand its agricultural production in countries where the cost is lower, so they may be interested in expanding in Serbia and Montenegro, said Djelic.
