Government delegation to attend spring meeting of IMF, World Bank
A Serbian government delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus, Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic, Minister of International Economic Relations Predrag Bubalo and National Bank of Serbia Governor Radovan Jelasic, will attend the annual spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington from April 24 to 26 to discuss the $550 million three-year arrangement with the World Bank.
The delegation will meet with IMF and World Bank officials to review goals and measures of Serbia’s economic programme for 2004, as well as additional measures to cover Serbia’s fiscal deficit this year.
The IMF earlier said the Serbia must trim its 2004 fiscal deficit in order to achieve the projected GDP growth.
Government officials will present Serbia’s current economic picture and its reform programme, and will point out that the country’s debt burden must be reduced so it can continue to service its international debt and maintain macroeconomic stability at the same time.
Government officials will also meet with central bank governors and representatives of commercial banks from a number of countries.
